    End users of beef products, including Tyson Foods and Wendy’s are now starting to require producers of that beef to have Beef Quality Assurance Training.  They have both announced beginning in 2019 cattle they purchase must originate from producers and feedyards who are Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified.  Therefore many stockyards and buyers are requiring this training for beef producers who sell to them.

    If you purchase, plant or care for trees, Tree Survival School is for you. Participants will gain knowledge and hands on experience in how to grow a tree for the long term. Topics will include Soils, Site Preparation, Selecting the right trees for the site, Nutritional Diagnostics for trees and more. Please dress for the weather.     It is Great Lakes Apple Crunch Time in Washington County, Ohio!! Ohio State University Extension of Washington County is joining schools, preschools, colleges and individuals across the Great Lakes states in celebrating National Farm to School Month by crunching into locally grown apples in celebration of Food Day on Thursday, October 10th at NOON local time for the annual Great Lakes Apple Crunch!

    Back by popular demand, please join award winning Chef Tom Hickey at the Cornerstone Inn on July 16th starting at 6:00 pm for dinner and a cooking session using home grown produce. The menu will consist of stuffed hamburgers, a variety of garden fresh salads, and dessert. Chef Hickey will demonstrate all items and offer cooking shortcuts and tips. Cost for the event is $40, which covers dinner and recipes cards to be taken home, and is limited to the first 35 participants who register.
