OSU Extension can help you and your family during the 2008 growing season.

Rising costs of food for families, coupled with climbing gas prices are really putting a pinch on the family budget.  This is where OSU Extension can help you and your family during the 2008 growing season.

A great way to save some dollars is by growing your own garden and preserving the bounty of that garden for your family.  OSU Extension can help you with all of the information to get your own garden off to a good start - and a good finish.

An Introduction to Vegetable Gardening will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 5:30pm.  Participants will learn what vegetables grow well together, soil preparation, disease control, planting methods and more.  Horticultural expert Eric Barrett will be presenting the program.

An Introduction to Home Food Preservation Class will be held on Tuesday, June 17, at 5:30pm.  Participants will learn the basics of high acid and regular pressure canning process; how to properly freeze fruits/vegetables; how to know what's best in the latest preservation information; and more!  Family & Consumer Sciences expert Kathryn Dodrill will present the program.

Both programs will be held at Ohio State University Extension, Washington County at 202 Davis Avenue, Marietta, OH. Click here for program flyer.
