In June we learned to snack on nutritious vegetables and fruits, now, let's find ways to purchase and prepare all that produce.

In July at the Washington County libraries, Cindy Styer, Ohio State University Extension Family Nutrition Program Assistant, will discuss ways to overcome cost, taste, and preparation barriers to eating vegetables and fruits. Join her in Barlow on July 5 at 2:00pm, July 16 she will be in Marietta at 1:30pm, in New Matamoras on July 18 at 1:30pm, and in Beverly on July 25 at 1:30pm.

Participants will learn tips to purchase, season, and prepare vegetables and fruits. Reusable grocery totes will be presented to all in attendance. If you have questions, or want information and cannot attend, please call Cindy at 740-376-7431.

These programs are funded by the USDA Food Stamp Program.

The Ohio State University has begun a new fund-raising campaign to support students from all 88 Ohio counties. The "Ohio Scholarship Challenge" seeks to raise $100 million in general undergraduate scholarship funds for Ohio State students at all campuses. This Challenge is also part of the university’s larger effort to raise $500 million in private funds for student financial aid and scholarships. The Ohio Scholarship Challenge honorary co-chairs are Ohio State head football Coach Urban Meyer and men’s basketball Coach Thad Matta.
