Dear 4-H'er and Potential Camp Counselor:
It is time to start thinking about the 2008 4-H Camping Program! You can be a part of the camping program by being selected to be a 4-H camp counselor. Working as a camp counselor is a tremendous responsibility and privilege, but the rewards are great.
Teens are selected to be care providers for young campers based on their fulfillment of a selection process that is similar to real-life job selection procedures. Your participation in this selection process can enhance your employability skills and prepare you for the expectations of future employers. As when applying for any job, you should neatly and thoroughly complete requested items for the camp counselor position.
The 4-H Camp Counselor Job Opportunity Announcement lists the counselor training dates, states the requirements needed to be a counselor, and describes the responsibilities of a counselor. If you are interested in the position, you need to:
- complete the four page Counselor Application and return it by February 25th (may bring to assessment);
- have your 4-H Club Advisor complete the "Advisor Recommendation Form" and another adult complete the
"Adult Recommendation Form (Not 4-H Advisor) ". - participate in the assessment station training that is held on:
Monday, February 25, 2008
6:45 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Commons Area
Washington County Career Center
State Route 676
If you cannot attend this training, please leave a message at the Extension Office, 740-376-7431.
4. At the February 25 training, you can schedule a 15 minute interview which will be held on March 10, 11, 12 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. at the Extension Office.
We wish you the best in your efforts to be selected as a 2008 4-H camp counselor.
Sincerely,
Connie Cunningham
